How can energy policy reach all the goals of climate protection, affordable energy prices and supply reliability at the same time? We discussed these and other topics with our guest, Prof. Dr. André Thess. He is currently holding the Chair for Energy Storage at the University of Stuttgart. As one of the leading experts on thermodynamics in Germany, he previously hold positions at the Technical University of Ilmenau and at the Helmholtz Center Dresden-Rossendorf. In 2022 he and 18 other renowned academics demanded in the so-called Stuttgart Declaration the inclusion of nuclear power into the green energy transition. We speak about nuclear power, its risks and benefits and how it can complement renewable energies in the future. Also we compare the German approach to the energy transition with other countries. Do we need to rearrange arrange our priorities when it comes down to energy policy?

As host of this episode serves Richard Schenk, research associate at the Technical University of Munich and currently Visiting Fellow at the MCC.
